Privacy Policy

Nothing. Spicy Shelf has no user accounts, runs no servers, and does not store, log, or receive any of your library or reading information. We can’t see your entries, and we can’t see your searches.
Your books, ratings, tropes, shelves, reading sessions, reviews, quotes, and bingo boards are stored only on your device, using Apple’s on-device SwiftData framework. This data never leaves your iPhone through Spicy Shelf.
When you search for or add a book, Spicy Shelf sends the text you type — the book title and/or author — to OpenLibrary.org to fetch cover images and book details. That request contains only your search words — no account, no name, no device identifier, and nothing that identifies you.
We do not store, log, or link these searches to any identity, because we run no servers of our own. OpenLibrary is an independent service run by the Internet Archive and handles the request under its own privacy policy. This lookup is optional — manual entry and adding a cover photo work fully offline. No other data leaves your device, except App Store purchases, which are handled by Apple.
Spicy Shelf does not track you across apps or websites, uses no advertising or analytics services, and contains no third-party SDKs. Our privacy manifest declares “Data Not Collected.”
Shelf Plus is an optional subscription handled entirely by Apple through the App Store using StoreKit. Apple processes the transaction — we never receive your name, payment details, or Apple ID. See Apple’s Privacy Policy.
You can export your entire library to CSV any time from Settings. Delete all data in Settings permanently removes every entry from your device, and deleting the app removes all of its data.
Spicy Shelf is not directed at children under 13 and collects no data from anyone.
